The United States is home to the world’s four largest airlines (by fleet size) and the world’s busiest airport ( Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport ). It may not be home to the world’s largest airport construction projects (as established airports are mostly being renovated rather than whole new airports being constructed). Still, there are plenty of examples of established airports receiving new terminals, new runways, and other improvements (with projects running into the billions).

Internationally, Poland is planning the new Central Communication Port airport (planned to have a capacity of 100 million passengers). Meanwhile, China is soon to build the world’s largest artificial island airport . Here are six of the multi-billion dollar airport reconstruction projects underway in the United States.
