The Allegheny County Airport Authority approved a measure Friday that would make the new terminal at Pittsburgh International Airport more environmentally friendly.

The board approved an additional $4.7 million in spending to Gensler + HDR to include a LEED certification as part of the design for a new landside terminal, a spokesperson for the airport confirmed. The contract amendment also includes money for the design of more ticket counters, which are increasing by 40 percent at the request of the airlines operating at the airport.
