Pittsburgh International Airport officials gave the media the latest look at the progress inside the new landside terminal.
The $1.5 billion project, which began during the Covid-19 pandemic, is scheduled to open later this year and bring a new look and sensibility to what Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis calls Pittsburgh’s front door. Work has been steadily progressing and the work is about 80% done.

Some of the new systems that will be introduced include a completely new baggage system, a tunnel that will go from the landside terminal into the airside terminal without a tram, plus connections from a new parking garage to the terminal and also new roadways and a rental car complex. Also new is constellation lighting and a lot of wayfinding, on foot and in vehicles. That will help people find where they’re going much easier and also amenities like red and green lights that help finding parking.
